Mainstage Program:
Our Mainstage Program for children 8 to 13 years old is a 5-week-long workshop taught by an Artistic Director, a Music Director, and a Choreographer. Students are taught dance skills that are incorporated into choreography, vocal exercises and harmonizing skills that are incorporated into multi-part musical numbers, and dramatic exercises and techniques that improve their ability to portray convincing characters. Students perform selected musical numbers at Merchants Square prior to a “Summer Breeze” band performance. They also present 3 public performances of their musical production, accompanied by a live music ensemble, at the Williamsburg Library Theatre. We accept an average of 30 students into the Mainstage Program each summer.

The director provides a general storyline and allows the children to “flesh out” the story and their characters for the final script. Students perform a “family and friends” show on the final day of the session at the workshop location. We accept an average of 10-12 applicants into the Mini-Workshop.
